THRASHING is a show that features artwork inspired by 80's skateboard culture.  The look of Thrasher style skating was hard, punk, grungy...skaters were looked at by society as delinquents.  Skate or Die, anarchy symbols, and Thrasher stickers cluttered skateboard decks amidst the scuffed up screen prints of neon green monsters and skulls.  The show pays homage to artists like Jim Phillips,  who was infamous for his Slasher and Roscopp series decks for Santa Cruz skateboard company, skull and bones graphics by Vernon Johnson for Powell and Peralta Skateboards, the incredible skaters like Gonz, Natas, Hawk. Cab, Hosoi, Gator, etc.  Almost everyone in this show was not only influenced by this scene but was actually a skater in the 80's.  So this slice of outlaw visual culture became part of their identity as an artist.
