Film: Peep Show Film Screenings Mission Statement

3 Ring Circus has been one of the most active arts organizations in the New Orleans scene since its inception. To continue the work of spotlighting new voices, the group has started a new series of film screenings to be named "Peep Show."

With these screenings, 3 Ring Circus hopes to expand the audience for independent film, foster dialogue between artist and audience and create a new forum for emerging filmmakers.

The series will focus on independently produced work in the narrative fiction, experimental, documentary and animation genres with a special focus on local New Orleans filmmakers. Film submissions, however, will be open to any artist.

Peep Show screenings strive to complement other local film events: the New Orleans Film Festival, Zeitgeist, Flicker and Drive-By Screenings (also at the Big Top) etc. In this effort, we will put emphasis on longer pieces, narrative films, films related to the Generation X demographic (26-45), documentaries that emphasize 'lifestyle' topics and avant-garde art films.

Peep Show producers will invite filmmakers (or a qualified representative like producer, actor etc.) at the screenings in order to facilitate an intelligent dialogue between artist and audience. To enhance this discourse, these talks will be moderated by a Peep Show film board member or qualified host.

In order to develop a more informed audience, Peep Show will occasionally hold film classes taught by a film professional.
